I have been driven by a passion for music since early childhood and I discovered the guitar when I was very young.

The desire to share this passion urged me to play with bands from my teenage years as well as to start performing in public; this was a revelation!

I made repeated experiences and travelled a lot; my instrument was like a paintbrush I used to express myself. By playing for artists such as Marc Ribot, Julien Jacob, Les Trompettes du Mozambique, Etienne Grandjean, Fannytastic... I was able to mould my own musical identity.

I take pleasure in exploring new tones and colours to work out the character of a music beyond frontiers, a music which is a blend of Jazz and traditional music.

WHAT PRESS SAYS

“Sensual, iconoclastic, futuristic, Yvan Knorst's music, in between Jazz and world music, gathers both in a whole. In his second album, this guitarist based in Brittany delivers 9 chiselled tunes, emphasised by an unleashed flugelhorn.” Anne Berthod (4f Telerama for Criste-Marine)

“One soul can be overwhelmed in one single click. You just need to listen to the latest album of the frenchman Yvan Knorst, to be captivated by the beauty and sincerity of his 9 tracks CD.” Maxime Delcourt (Les Inrocks)

Revue Vibration
